It’s almost out of black ink, but it takes color as well. Do I have to go through HP? I prefer to shop online, but could go to a retailer as well. How much should I expect to pay?

This is my pet peeve. When I install a new cartridge it prints out the calibration sheet no matter what I do — even when I indicate I have one. It is offensive that the company that produces and sells the ink forces you to use it this way — and in color, yet! Can I make this go away — forever? Is this the same with other companies? Maybe I should stop buying HP printers.

I have a very inexpensive, probably obsolete printer HP Deskjet Cl. It needed black ink. Although there is a colored ink cartridge that seems full in this printer, it only prints black. Didn’t change anything, made sure paper was full. There is no paper stuck in machine. The light that is blinking is the paper light, but all of the messages say nothing about paper, just that an error has been made. Help!!I need my cheap crappy printer. It worked fine before we took the cartridge out and re-filled it.

I just changed the black ink in my printer and when I tried the print the test sheet, it said there was a ‘cartridge problem’ with the color ink cartridge. The color ink is over half full, and I tried taking it out and putting it back in and unplugging the printer. What should I do?

I wasn’t paying attention and accidentally put an HP 57 color ink cartridge where the HP 56 black Ink cartridge should go in my printer. I tried pulling it out and nothing.
I already checked the HP site and nothing helpful popped up. I have an HP psc 1350 All-In-One printer. If anyone has any suggestions besides trying to dismantle it, I would be very grateful.

When we print out the stat report, it says Yellow Ink Level Status is OK. We have tried two new yellow ink cartridges, neither work. Any idea what the problem could be? The model is an HP Color Inkjet CP1700.

my mom is getting me some black ink for my printer (hp psc 1315v all in one printer) and im trying to let her know what the number is on the ink cartdrige but there’s only the color one in and im not sure if the tri color ink cartridge is the same as the black one
the color catridge says “57″
who else has this printer, and has the number for the black ink?

Computer: HP pavilion a1700n
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit
Printer: HP Deskjet D4160
Both the color ink cartridge and black one work perfectly when a test page or cleaning or diagnostics is printed.
However, when I attempt to print something from MS Paint or Microsoft Word (or any other program) that is in color it will not print anything that is colorful.. the black works, color areas are greyscale.
If I try to print without the black cartridge it results in a blank sheet of paper.
Because I know the printer and cartridges are working correctly on the test pages, I checked every possible setting I could find that might result in greyscale in all my programs.
I can’t find anything. Please please please help me find out what is wrong and how to fix it!
The settings are set for printing in color.
“Print in color” is selected.
In the programs, they are all set up for printing in color.

My HP Deskjet F2180 All-In-One Printer doesn’t recognize the new cartridge I bought, but it’s the black one I replaced, not the color one (which is still about 3/4 full), I already did the print test and both cartridges work but it still tells me that there is no black ink. How do I make it know that there is a new, full black ink cartridge without changing the estimated capacity of my color cartridge?
